California illegal street show driver strikes officer, rams patrol car, police say

A California “sideshow” driver was arrested Sunday just after he allegedly rammed a law enforcement car or truck and struck an officer as he attempted to evade authorities.

Officers responded around 4 p.m. to many spots in San Jose for experiences of the unlawful street racing celebration, the San Jose Law enforcement Office explained in a news launch.

Subsequent the collision, Guzman sped away and struck an officer who was on foot, according to authorities. The hurt officer was taken care of at a regional hospital for slight to average injuries and launched.

Law enforcement rapidly tracked Guzman down following the incident and took him into custody.

Guzman was arrested on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on an officer, felony hit-and-operate and possession of a privately created firearm.

In complete, the sideshow events all over the city resulted in 8 arrests – two for firearms violations – three vehicles impounded for 30 days and about 40 citations for spectator and mechanical violations.

Sideshows are unlawful street racing events where drivers carry out risky stunts like “donuts” and “burnouts” on public streets.
